The Bloody Beetroots & Crookers (Videos From Denver Show 4/16/09)

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

What an epic night–April 16th, that is. DJ Hot To Death kicked it off with a banger set and was later accompanied by Yonnas. Their set was followed by Boyhollow who most definitely delivered. Next, The Bloody Beetroots, who I’m going to blame for my destroyed calve muscles, put the crowd into a frenzy with their classics and remixes. The crowd surfing continued into the Crookers set. The Crookers dropped their Day N Nite remix (which, dare I say, put Kid Cudi on the map) and their many other hits. The following are a couple videos of many-hopefully I’ll get sometime to upload more later. The sound quality is pretty bad but you’ll get the idea. dLux

D.I.M.

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

if you don’t know this guy then more than likely you died in 2007. he dominated the german dance/techno/electro scene that year and since has released quality remixes from a variety of artists. everyone from sven vath to justice fell in love with D.I.M.’s sound, not to mention his production partner boys noize (together they make PUZIQUe). having remixed the presets, chromeo, fisherspooner, midnight juggernauts, teenage bad girl and the faint, D.I.M. is one of the most in demand remix artists on the planet. his most successful song to date however was the relentless, “is you” on boys noize records, which remains a club favorite for techno and electro heads alike. my personal favorite is his remix of tiga’s version of ’sunglasses at night’ which i’ve dropped in sets for a long time and have always had good success with. he just released a remix of fischerspooners ’supply & demand’ and since fischerspooner is coming to denver soon it seemed like the perfect time to throw it up. option4~

Ewan Pearson

Friday, April 10th, 2009

Ewan Pearson has been making records for a living since 1998. He has recorded as Maas for Soma, releasing six singles and an album, ‘Latitude’, and under a number of other guises including World of Apples and, currently, Partial Arts for Cologne’s legendary Kompakt label. His remixes for the likes of Depeche Mode, Chemical Brothers, Seelenluft, Cortney Tidwell and Freeform 5 have made him one of dance music’s most respected producers and have been compiled on ‘Small Change’ (Soma, 2001) and last year’s !K7 2CD retrospective ‘Piece Work’. He has programmed for Goldfrapp and Gwen Stefani and his production credits include Tracey Thorn’s acclaimed solo album ‘Out Of The Woods’, The Rapture’s ‘Pieces of the People We Love’ and M83’s latest ‘Saturdays=Youth’.

all that considered.. we’re dealing with an extremely smart player here. devoting as much time to producing as dj’ing. he just put out a junior boys remix 2 weeks ago i stumbled across from a friend with extremely high-class taste. it’s been dominating my life too much to not post on. pearson is currently working on another album so we’ll be sure to watch what this guy does closely. enjoi. option4

The Presets Remix and DENVER SHOW friday 04/10

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

So in case you haven’t lost yourself in The Presets’ new single, “if i know you”, now’s about the time to cycle through your album folders back to Apocalypso and rock out to maybe the most under-appreciated track on that mug. But I’ve got a better idea - really get your pulse pumping with London duo Heartbreak’s remix. It might be a little old for you snobs that are done with a track before it’s even released, but THE PRESETS ARE HERE ON FRIDAY SO DANCE YOUR FACE OFF!
